Bonta ambiente – contemporary and inviting, warm and cosy Blessed with spacious loft-like interior, a very chill-out candle-lit alfresco dining area, great service and most of all, the award winning Chef Luca, Bonta welcomes guests to an authentic taste of Italy in a cosy and elegant ambience. You can distinctly see Bonta from the main roads with its candle lights flickering amidst the foliage in the alfresco dining area. The alfresco area is very much romanticized by the rustic beaded lanterns and candle lights so that alfresco dining is a chill-out cosy experience too. Step into Bonta and your attention is immediately drawn to the cascading cluster of cream hanging lamps casting a warm glow over the elevated bar area. These specially Italian custom-made fabric lamps certainly soften the contemporary decor of the restaurant. While in the main dining space, elegant furnishings and clean lines offset another dramatic focal point - a panel of orange textured fabric wall feature which one cannot miss, takes centrestage. Situated on the mezzanine floor of the restaurant is the private dining room with painted hues of lavender-grey is chic elegance with the black fabric crystal chandliers and a simple purple/silver wall decor. Adjoining this private room, the wine cellar takes pride in its collection of more than 200 wine labels from mostly Italy and that of New/Old World too. All about Chef Luca Pezzera - Passionate, Creative and Trendsetting At the helm of Bonta is Chef-partner Luca Pezzera, 38. The Bergamo native so passionate about cooking is almost impeccable in his craft, still, to never rest on his laurels. And this easy-going man can be rather fussy too about his already perfectly-executed dishes that he see as art. Chef Luca is equally excited on his first foray into Singapore's culinary scene which is why he starts his first entrepreneurial base here. This dream he relished since young, of being his own boss and the excitement of it all, further anchored his enthusiasm now that things finally began to take shape accordingly. And he feels close to home here in Singapore having noticed the favourite past-time of Singaporeans is food...just like the Italians. Chef Luca's zest on his cuisine philosophy: "My cooking style is just simplicity with emphasis on using top quality ingredients and the freshest too, with a keen sense of taste, texture, presentation and execution. I am largely influenced by the ingredients and cuisine of Northern Italy, very authentic yet with my personal signature modern touch." So 'personal' is this charming personable chef that he still finds time to say hello to diners and even some tete-a-tete mingle with diners when he's less busy. During his leisure time away from the kitchen, Chef Luca plays squash and swims regularly to keep fit too. Being an avid supporter of his hometown team, Atalanta, he also follows football. Chef's History On His Culinary Journey Luca Pezzera's passion for cooking started at the prestigious San Pellegrino School of Hoteliers where he graduated in 1986. Since then with perseverance he fine-tuned and secured his éclat in the Food and Beverage industry in Italy and the various countries he had worked in. His illustrious career spans over 20 years and has seen him travel the globe to pursue his passion in countries such as Turkey, Jordan, Switzerland, Scotland, Dubai and most recently Indonesia. Luca have always wanted to explore Asia hence his stint in Jakarta became more than 5 years where he is the Executive Chef at Hotel InterContinental-Jakarta. Here, he pioneered and established Scusa, one of the country's best Italian restaurant. While here that he have participated in various competitions and having credited with numerous awards too. Chef Luca's good culinary reputation coupled with his personable charm have garnered a loyal following that includes some of the country's celebrities, socialites, businessmen especially and just ordinary folks whom just love his delectable scrumptious creations. He have had the pleasure of cooking for some internationally famous people namely, President Susilo Bambang of Indonesia and Hollywood actor Slyvester Stallone, French actress Catherine Deneuve and the The King of Jordan, King Abdullah II Bin Hussein and his Queen.
